How to Deal with the Homeschooling Blues

Some people aren’t aware of what homeschooling blues are because they haven’t dealt with them before. However, just like anything else in life, homeschooling blues are a real thing. Usually, you need to pinpoint what is causing the homeschooling blues and then you can deal with it.

Unmet Expectations

A lot of people expect homeschooling to be one way, but it turns out being another. This can cause homeschooling blues. Setting realistic expectations and not being so hard on yourself are ways in which you can deal with this type of homeschooling blues.

Feeling Like a Failure

Every homeschooling parent has run into the issue where they feel like a failure. This can turn into homeschooling blues. Feeling like a failure is pretty normal, but it doesn’t need to make you sad. Each day is a new day!

Homeschool Burnout

Is your whole family sick of homeschooling? This is a normal feeling and it can cause the homeschooling blues. You may be ready to throw in the towel. Don’t give up yet! It’s time to take a break if you are experiencing homeschooling burnout. Think about how much more productive you will be when your household isn’t burnt out from homeschooling.

Unexpected Issues

When you are homeschooling, you don’t expect to have to deal with a million other issues. Maybe someone is sick or things aren’t going right, this can cause the homeschooling blues. Try to deal with one thing at a time to help you get through this period in your life.

Talk with other homeschooling moms

When I have felt hopeless with homeschooling, I always talk with another homeschooling mom. She has the power to help me feel better about our situation. Homeschooling is not easy by any means, but it is what’s best for our family. And the times I need a pick me up, I can count on my homeschooling mom friends to help me out.

Take it easy on yourself

When you have the homeschooling blues, it’s important to take it easy on yourself. You will need to realize that you are doing the best you can. Don’t get down on yourself. While there is always room for improvement, don’t be too hard on yourself.

Dealing with the homeschooling blues is hard. Perhaps homeschooling didn’t quite turn out like you hoped. Stick with it and use these tips to get the help you need. Remember, whether you homeschool, public school, or private school- you are making the best decision that you can for your family.
